Can't close my eyes
They're wide awake
Every hair on my body
has got a thing for this place
Oh empty my heart
I've got to make room for this feeling
so much bigger than me

It couldn't be any more beautiful - I can't take it in.

Can't Take it In Imogen Heap

While the lighthearted nature of the song inspired the bright colours in the picture; the actual story behind what's going on is a bit more macabre.

8/19/09-8/21/09: I completely repainted the face, hair, and touched up the foreground and background. I removed the pixie and vine brushes and substituted in a few bits and pieces of paintwork from older paintings of mine. I flipped this horizontally, and it isn't quite right yet. I will work on this a bit more later on, but this is major improvement to what this used to look like. I retouched her face and eyes. I'll just dabble with this a little more.

12/3/09 I completely repainted the face, fixing most of the anatomy errors present in the older versions of the painting. There's still a lot of work to be done, but this version is a thousand times better than the older one. My next issues will be to tackle the picture's overall lighting scheme to make it more dynamic and to continue to improve the face.

This started out a pen sketch in my sketchbook. The character, Tok. This painting has gone through so many stages that nearly all of the original traditional work is gone.

Total Time Duration: 4 hours (for the original)

Materials Used: Ballpoint pen, prismacolour marker, and sakura pentouch white ink.

Drawing reference for facial angle and hooding angle: :icondistorteddoll-stock:

Thank you. The marker drawing is fairly large so that was 3 hours of nonstop work by itself, and then the digital painting and touch-up was another hour. :)

I like your style. It's different. Plus, her eyes are beautiful. Nice glow on ehr skin, too.

I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead, and some come from behind. But I've brought a big bat. I'm all ready, you see. Now my troubles are going to have trouble with me.
